Lightstruck is one of the premium fibre service providers in Southern Africa. We conduct fibre installations in communities where a demand is signalled. By implementing the best infrastructure principles during the deployment of our fibre networks, we aim to deliver the finest and most reliable fibre networks to home and business owners. We want to install fibre as a next generation digital utility, so we plan on doing it correctly from the start.

How does a fibre network installation work?

There are 3 types of networks needed to provide you with an ultra-fast internet experience, of which the first two are taken care of by ourselves, and the 3rd is concluded by you.

Home Passed Network

For the first step, we will employ a carefully selected civil contractor to install the fibre network along the roads network in your suburb. This network will end with a connection box outside your property, as close to your private boundary as possible. Next, a connector will be installed inside this boundary box to connect your Home Drop that will ultimately allow you to access an active fibre connection.

Our Home Drop

The second step is known as the Home Drop. This is the connection from the boundary box into your house. The Home Drop can be requested through the Home Drop contractor.

After your homes passed network has been installed, you would need to order a fibre service. This is done through our partner ISP’s. This step will include your Home Drop order. A Home Drop contractor will schedule an installation with you. During this installation, your cabling is installed, taking approximately 2 hours and will include an active device that will render your fibre connection live. Once the Home Drop installation is complete, you will be left with a working service from your ISP.

Since we think of fibre as a next generation utility, we retain ownership of both the fibre cable and device. It is like any permanent fixture, it does not belong to you and you cannot take this with when you move, for example.

Your Internal Network

Lastly, you need to take care of your Internal Network setup. We use only the very best cable and next generation connection devices, with the best WIFI protocols, when installing our networks. The device includes WIFI and ETHERNET ports. Our service stops here.

If you are required to strengthen the signal because you have a large property, this is your own responsibility. We encourage you to budget for this and to contact your local office supplier to assist should this be necessary.

We are fibre service providers. We take care of the infrastructure and fibre installations required to allow home and business owners to utilise fast-speed fibre internet. Once we have completed our part of the process, it is up to you to make the necessary arrangements to activate your fibre connection.
